Just a quick post to say that my images from Nicole Fox (former 5fm DJ)wedding is in the current YOU magazine! The YOU magazine has a massive ciculation as it is a weekly magazine. - We would have got the front cover, but Obama beat us! :) Go get it now!

Trevor Manual & Maria Ramos Wedding!

I am very excited to say that I was chosen as the official and only photographer for Trevor Manual & Maria Ramos wedding held last year 28 Dec 2008. (Trevor Manual is South-Africa's Minister of finance and Maria is one of SA's top business woman.)When I arrived at the gate of the estate there where many paparazzi and press photographers and it was so fun to be allowed by security to go in and they weren't! :) My photos were also used for the newspapers the following two days.

They wanted their wedding very private and therefore I will only post one wedding image that was already released by the press. A previous celebrity wedding I photographed I also respected my clients needs and didn't use any image for three months after the wedding. I am glad that celebrities have trusted me in the past and rest assured they can for the future. I am looking forward to my next celebrity wedding which will be the wedding of Nicole Fox! (Former 5fm DJ!) Her wedding will be featured in YOU / Huisgenoot magazine and a few other places! There will be allot of publicity of her wedding. The coolest thing is that I am the only photographer allowed!

2008 was a great year and ended on high note and 2009 is starting on a high note!

I've wanted to take photos of little Jean-Pierre with this hat for quite some time now. So I grabbed my camera while he was playing put the hat on and as a dad I so love these photos of my son! What makes it extra special is that this hat is my grandfathers hat! I believe there are a few occasions in your life you need to get a professional photographer, for your wedding and definately some of your kids in various stages of their lives! Cant wait to make some enlargements of these :)

I really had so much fun shooting the wedding of Annene & Werner! The car was a hit this day! I got allot of my inspiration from the car. I normally don't shoot much with the wedding car, but this one really inspired me.I hope you enjoy these shots as much as I enjoyed creating them!

I will give some insight into some of the shots and what I like about them, or why I captured it.

I wanted to create that old film look with this shot of the car.

I love this boys reaction as he looked at me photographing him while everyone prayed in the church!

The gorgeous family!

"Mystery!" I captured this because there was a sense of mystery in the emotion and position of the guys - are they mafia or the grooms bodyguards?

Did I mention I loved the car? Another car shot -I love this one!...and the others too :)

They had a great idea where they had a canvas with some photos of them, and the guests could write notes on the canvas.

Cover shot!

I am happy to say that I made some history. The latest edition of Wedding Flowers has one of my images on their cover! This is my first cover for an international magazine! It is also the first time that this magazine has ever used an image from a real wedding for their cover. They normally use an image from a shoot they organize. Thank you to the editor Catherine Westwood from Wedding Flowers as well as Christine the wedding coordinator from Wedding Concepts who submitted the wedding!

The magazine can be bought at CNA or ordered from their website www.weddingmagazine.co.uk - it has loads of great flower inspiration ideas!

Wow what a unique wedding held on the beautiful Val De Vie Polo estate! Just imagine watching a live polo game during pre-dinner drinks listening to live jazz and being served the most delicious canapés and drinks, just a pity I wasn't a guest! :)The Top Billing film crew was there as well and it should be on TV soon! I was thrilled to get this shot, I saw it happening before me and I quickly re-acted. (not posed) I've always wanted to get a cool "drinks" shot a bar.

SA Fashion Week

I photographed the "behind the scenes" action at Kluk & CGDT(www.kluk.co.za) show at the SA Sanlam Fashion Week Thursday 18 Sept 2008. It was held at the very cool Old Biscuit Mill (check out their cool website - www.theoldbiscuitmill.co.za ) At first being backstage it felt like it is going to be just shots of models getting their hair and make-up done, but then after a certain photo, creativity kicked in and I started seeing art in the whole process. I wanted to capture everyone involved not just models. At the end of the short night I felt really inspired and enjoyed photographing something different. I wanted to captured moments and details to tell a unique story. Now I would love to shoot Paris Fashion week!!!!

I am really excited and overwhelmed what has happened to me the last few weeks.As I am writing this I cant but have an overwhelming thankfulness to what God has allowed in my life. God is continually doing good things for EVERYBODY whether we like to acknowledge Him in it or not. (The scripture says the God gives blessing to the just and the unjust - His love is unconditional.)By acknowledging that God has done great things for me I get a sense of closeness to Him and it humbles me. As a photographer I believe it is important to get inspired and excited by your own work. When you finished working on a images and it just satisfies you. Normally in those instances I always cant believe that I took that photo! Every now and then you get a favourite that inspired you to carry on. It is not planned it just happens - I have a new one like that! It feels so good! It happened this time after I printed the images on fine-art paper and mounted it in a frame -it is beautiful! I am going to try a reproduce the look for you- (it is not the same though as the paper has such a nice texture that adds so much to the photograph.)Also the watermark is not on the original.

I am thrilled to be featured in the latest issue of Pix magazine! It is South-Africa's most read local photo magazine. What I am really excited about is the fact that I could choose the images they use and the article is about me. I have had my work featured in more than 30 local and international publications (which I am very thankful for), but it is always been to showcase weddings and the magazines like to use the images that show dress, venue, and decor to inspire brides. They will never show the emotional and artistic images.Now I get a chance to get my photojournalistic and artistic images featured! The magazine goes on sale 5 September 2008 at most local news agencies and photographic labs.

I am going to be on the Top Billing TV Show tonight Thursday 14 Aug 2008 at 19:30 SABC 3. They are doing a feature of brides experiencing their wedding day again and I was asked to do the photo shoot. I was approached by designers Christiaan Gabriël du Toit and Malcolm Kluk ( www.kluk.co.za www.cgdt.co.za ) to do the photography.
These are my favourite image from each bride.

While we were doing the shoot me and Christiaan Gabriël and Kluk decided to do some extra shots with a model. Here is some gorgeous shots of Jenny from outlaws model agency! I will post more of Jenny's shots soon.

I am ready and excited for the new season ahead! It is going to be busy now from August to April 2009! I am looking forward to all the weddings and cant wait to try new things in search of capturing the ultimate wedding photograph!

To all my clients I want to say we are going to have lots of fun on your wedding! It is very important to get awesome photo's and to have fun while we are doing it! You will see it is not so hard as one would think!

Last season I only posted a few weddings, but this season I will try and post each wedding! So watch this space!

I love this shot as it looks as if was taken in the 1920's!

We stopped traffic to get this shot in the main street of Kalk Bay! It was hot summer day and the traffic was bumper to bumper which made the shot more difficult but loads more fun!!!

Can you see the fishermen cleaning their fishes in the background?

I arrived late afternoon and after some rest I hit the streets - all the following was shot between 20:00 - 22:00 in Montmartre in Paris- can you believe it is still so light at that time - enjoy and please feel free to comment!

I met this gentleman named Jacques, he joked that I photograph him...and offcourse I grabbed the opportunity - he did not speak a word of english so giving directions was very funny... he bought me a drink - Merci Jacques!

Then I met Ralph - he was very nice and again he spoke no english! Viva Ralph!

Re-cap of 2007!

My year started with winning Cape Weddings photo of the year. This was a public vote.

Then later the year I won Media 24's, Fair Lady-, Sarie & True Love Bridal magazines - "photographer of the year" - which is currently the highest honor for wedding photographers in South-Africa! Wow was I excited!

My year ended really blessed with many publications that came out featuring my work!

The first two I want to mention is two hard cover coffee table books. An international book called Beautiful Weddings by Carole Hamilton featuring 20 beautiful weddings from around the world. I have three weddings featured in this book!

The next book is called: 100 Words about Weddings - the artistry of Aleit. This is an local book, but I am sure it will go to the UK some time. This is a stunning book and a must have for inspiration for weddings. This book is a collaboration with Aleit featuring the photographs of just me ,Jean-Pierre Uys Photography and Joe Dreyer! Go out and buy it at your local Exclusive books!

Then I had a total of 5 magazine publications in December 2007. I was so cool to stand in a bookstore and count 5 magazines that features my photography! One of the weddings was a CELEBRITY WEDDING! - In Style magazine featured the wedding of Kerry McGregor & Neil McKenzie. In Style New York had to approve the article before it was published and they loved it! I had a great feature in Elle Decoration - I love it when the weddings I've shot is featured in non traditional "wedding magazines" like Elle Decor.

I had a wedding in Top Billing, one in a UK international magazine called YOU & YOUR Wedding. Then lastly I had three weddings featured in The Wedding Album. The great thing about this one is that the magazine only featured three weddings and all three I photographed! I think this is a first in SA!

The other great thing is that I only sent photographs to In Style as they made a deal about covering the celebrity wedding - the rest was sent in by brides and coordinators!

I have also never shot as many weddings as I did in 2007! My busiest year yet and my most successful one as well!

I thank God for my success and I constantly stand amazed at the gift He gave me! Without Him I am nothing!

So what does 2008 hold? I cant wait to see what happens myself! (God has surprised me every year!) One thing I do is to continually improve my art!
